I suggested to the choir teacher at the high school where I taught that he could use this work in a choir competition. The "formal modern choir" sings with the guest folk- music group "Los Fronterizos." They are dressed in their traditional costumes and are playing folk music instruments which I cannot identify by name. The part that I suggest focusing on for class is "La Gloria de la Misa Criolla." The video for which I am going to provide the link was made in a cathedral in Argentina. I first heard it when I was in Buenos Aires in 1967. It is "La Misa Criolla," a "folk music" religious mass that was composed by Ariel RamÃrez (1921-2010) and published in 1964 in Argentina. ![]() There is an incredible lesson that they can do that probably cannot be done in most public schools. The e-mails of several teachers who have contacted me through ACTFL show that they work at private schools, many of them Catholic or other Christian denominations.
